At the Institute for the Protection of Maritime Infrastructures in Bremerhaven, we research and develop innovative solutions to strengthen the resilience of maritime infrastructures and make them adaptable, safe and sustainable. In close cooperation with partners from research, industry and other maritime security stakeholders, we combine technological innovation with practical expertise and offer you the opportunity to work on pioneering projects.

What To Expect

The DLR Institute for the Protection of Maritime Infrastructures is a research and development organisation dedicated to maritime security. We are looking for committed candidates who are interested in the societal aspects of security research and who can shed light on criteria for the resilience of maritime infrastructures. In this position, you will be actively involved in pioneering research projects. You will apply and further develop social science concepts and methods in interdisciplinary teams.

Your Tasks

• Systematic development of the state of research in social science security research, especially with regard to security and maritime infrastructures
• Familiarisation with existing social science approaches and transfer to maritime security
• Collecting and analysing data using empirical social research methods
• Presentation and publication of research results in specialist journals and at national and international conferences
• Participation in the management of research projects
  
  

Your profile

• Completed academic university degree (Master's or university diploma) in social sciences (e.g. sociology, political science, economics, administrative sciences) or other degree programmes relevant to the position
• Expertise in social science theories and methods
• Experience in empirical social research (qualitative and/or quantitative)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in German and business fluent in English

• Experience in scientific project work, especially in the context of security research
• Knowledge of the natural sciences
• Knowledge of the use of technology by authorities and organisations with security tasks
• Ability to mediate in cooperation with heterogeneous interest groups
• Strong communication and cooperation skills, persuasiveness, a confident manner and the ability to work in a team
  
  

Remuneration is up to the German TVöD 13 depending on qualifications and assigned tasks
