As Senior Internal Control Associate you will assist and support the organization with compliance, ongoing preparation, and monitoring of conformance to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX). You will perform evaluation of internal controls, risk assessments, maintenance of compliance-related documentation, and collaborate with internal and external audit. Your role will be to identify risk, design controls, evaluate deficiencies, and work with internal departments and stakeholders on remediation strategies. You will assist in the execution of control improvement projects and work with the business (finance and operations) to assess risk and opportunities for improvement.

Location: Paderborn, working from office 4 days, no travel required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently conducting control walkthroughs / interviews in local language for creating or updating controls and process documentation.
• Work with local teams to remediate existing deficiencies in the control environment.
• Researching and identifying alternatives to existing processes which drive either heightened and harmonized controls or simplification. Independently drafting conclusions, improvement opportunities and evaluating issues related to SOX controls.
• Participating in and providing senior-level support to team and cross-functional projects.
• Internal control SME in the location, acting as a liaison between IC team and other departments and auditors.
  
  
  

Required Qualifications:

• 2-3 years of experience in internal audit, external audit or internal control, preferably within a Big 4 or similar audit company / environment.
• Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting or business economics
• Financial Auditor or similar certification is a plus.
• Strong understanding of accounting and audit concepts; ability to articulate accounting impact of business transactions.
• Strong understanding of primary business processes including Financial Close, Purchase to Pay, Order to Cash, Inventory, Fixed Assets, etc.
• High level of communication skills (e.g. ability to adjust style to audience, facilitating finding solutions and consensus between business functions and stakeholders).
• High level of analytical skills that contribute to identifying an answer/solution.
• Experience in improving processes performance.
• Understanding of SOX requirements preferred.
• German and English professional level proficiency.
