As a member of the Finance Shared Service Center in Mannheim, you will bring your expertise to elevate our finance team to the next level and sustainably shape the financial operations of our Spanish subsidiary. You will take ownership, optimize processes, establish forward-thinking standards in compliance with Spanish GAAP, and act as the primary point of contact for external partners, such as Big4 tax advisors and payroll service providers, as well as internal stakeholders at the headquarters.

Your Responsibilities

  • Accounting in Spain: Independently handle all ongoing accounting operations for the Spanish subsidiary, including accounts payable, fixed assets, and general ledger accounting, as well as bank, cash, credit card, and travel expense postings in compliance with Spanish GAAP.
  • Financial Reporting: Coordinate and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the Spanish subsidiary in line with local accounting standards.
  • Key Liaison Between Locations: As a key member of the Finance Shared Service Center in Mannheim, you act as the central point of contact between the headquarters and the Spanish subsidiary, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration with the management team in Spain and external stakeholders.
  • Tax Coordination: Collaborate closely with local tax advisors and the osapiens tax team to ensure compliance with Spanish tax regulations, including VAT filings and statutory reporting.
  • Comprehensive Financial Responsibility: Oversee all financial processes for the Spanish subsidiary, including coordination with external partners such as Big4 tax advisors, payroll providers, and auditors.
  • Strategic Business Partnering: Support the Spanish management team as a strategic finance business partner by providing insightful analyses, reports, and actionable recommendations for decision-making.
  • Payments and Compliance: Manage payment processes, ensure compliance with local legal and tax requirements, and handle account reconciliations and intercompany transactions.
  • Process Optimization and Integration: Improve existing financial processes, integrate the Spanish subsidiary into the global finance structure, and contribute to the digitalization and automation of workflows.
  • Special Projects in Spain: Take part in special projects, such as implementing a new ERP system or transferpricing.

Your Experience

  • Qualifications: A degree in Business Administration with a focus on accounting or a comparable qualification (e.g., certified accountant or international equivalent).
  • Experience: At least 3-5 years of professional experience in accounting, ideally in an international environment, with proven expertise in managing the full scope of accounting and financial processes for a subsidiary. Proficiency in preparing year-end financial statements under Spanish GAAP.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Spanish accounting and tax regulations; additional knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP (including SOX compliance) is advantageous.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in digitalizing and standardizing accounting processes, with knowledge of ERP systems (Datev/SAP/Netsuite).
  • Language Skills: Fluent in Spanish and English, with German skills being a strong advantage, to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
