We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our research team studying the role of NMDA receptors in psychosis, using translational mouse models of anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis and pharmaceutical treatments. The project aims to investigate the effects of NMDA receptor hypofunction on decision-making and behavior, with a focus on understanding the neurobiological mechanisms underlying psychosis. The research utilizes advanced multiphoton imaging and virtual reality platform for simultaneous recording of animal behavior and microcircuit activity.

Responsibilities

• Investigating the role of NMDA receptor hypofunction in decision-making and behavior using translational mouse models
• Performing in vivo multiphoton imaging to study neuronal activity and network dynamics in real-time during behavioral tasks
• Integrating virtual reality paradigms with behavior and imaging to assess decision-making processes
• Exploring potential therapeutic interventions for NMDA receptor dysfunction
• Data collection, analysis, and interpretation using cutting-edge imaging and computational tools
• Presenting research findings at conferences, lab meetings, and through publications in high-impact journals
  
  

REQUIREMENTS:

• Master's degree in Neurobiology, Psychology, Biology, or a related field
• Strong interest in psychosis, neuroimmunology, and cognitive processes
• Experience with animal models, particularly rodent handling and behavioral testing, is preferred
• Familiarity with advanced imaging techniques (e.g., multiphoton microscopy) and behavioral paradigms is a plus
• Strong data analysis skills, experience with programming (e.g., MATLAB, Python) is highly desirable
• Highly motivated, independent, and willing to work effectively as part of a team
• Proficiency in English (both written and spoken). German language skills are a plus
