Nanosurf is a fast-growing innovator in the nanotechnology market. We develop, manufacture and market state-of-the-art scanning probe microscopes for imaging and manipulation of surfaces at the nanometer range. We work at the limit of what is physically possible and develop all the mechanical, electronic, optical and software components necessary for best-in-class instruments.

To strengthen our service team in Langen (Germany), we are looking for a motivated and skilled Service Scientist.

Your responsibilities:

• Provide technical support for national and international customers, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of AFM systems
• Perform system installations, calibrations, technical training, and user onboarding both onsite and remotely
• Analyze and resolve support requests (2nd-level), including root cause analysis and solution documentation
• Carry out hardware repairs at our service center in Langen
• Maintain service inventory, manage spare parts, and support logistics coordination
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of service processes, documentation, and knowledge base content
• Collaborate closely with R&D, application, and production to address complex technical challenges

Your profile:

• University degree in electrical engineering, physics, nanotechnology, materials science, engineering, or a related technical/natural science field
• First experience in technical service or support, ideally with advanced scientific or laboratory equipment
• Hands-on mindset, strong analytical thinking, and a high level of customer orientation
• Practical experience in hardware repair and diagnostics
• Familiarity with service tools such as Jira Service Management (CSM) and SAP is a strong advantage
• Well-organized and reliable, especially in handling service inventory and spare parts
• Willingness to travel internationally approx. 20–30% of the time
• Excellent communication skills in English and German, both written and spoken
• Experience with AFM, SPM, or related technologies is a plus
