Job Description

By strengthening our vertically integrated dialysis business, the merger supports our initiative of driving growth in the core business with innovation, better clinical outcomes through Care Coordination and improving the patient experience.

Our ISO 13485 certified NxStage plant in Goettingen manufacture our best-in-class dialyzers. In this position you will be legally responsible for our plant (111 employees) in Goettingen.

We manufacture roughly 8 million dialzyers a year with 2 assembly lines. Our plant is built in 2000 and currently we manufacture 24 hours in 3 shifts. In this position you will report into the Vice-President of Operations MDM – MDE – GmBH | NxStage and you are acting as our local Managing Director.

Your goal is to achieve company objectives through on-time product delivery at the right quality, capacity and cost. Lead local management and development of the plants through efficient and effective employee management, organization, technology, planning, controlling, work processes and deployment of lean six sigma in full compliance with regulations, laws and Fresenius Medical Care corporate standards.

Tasks

Plant Strategy

  • Ensure that all the consequent plans shared and agreed are duly followed, allocating the resources needed.
  • Lead the change management process throughout all the plant functions, both informing and enabling strategic direction.
  • Following the Company indications, communicate with MTI, Research and Development as well as Product Management personnel to execute the development of new product/production strategies.

Plant Business

  • Analyze the current status of production and propose improvement plans of the Plant to the direct Superior.
  • In accordance with Company indications define the targets of plant as quality, safety, production, maintenance and inventory.
  • Plan the budget and forecast and ensure the achievement of its targets.
  • Review periodically the achievement of the targets through a KPI panel, reacting and coordinating CAPA when necessary.
  • Ensure an appropriate organizational structure to reach Plant and Company targets.
  • Coordinate the Local Plant Management to run the Plant Business activities.
  • Manage proactively the manufacturing technology, in order to achieve always a constant continuous improvement of productivity and costs.
  • Monitor operation expenses and research ways to reduce costs, while maintaining product quality.
  • Work closely with the Environmental Health and Safety Department to ensure that all the employees are aware of safety policies and safety Company Guidelines, to provide a safe workplace for everybody in the Plant, reacting and coordinating CAPA when necessary and maintaining and supporting a superior safety program.
  • Remove production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and employees to obtain all the established goals.
  • Remove waste and constraints from the production processes to improve efficiencies and costs and enhance productivity, leading Continuous Improvement process and other methods of Lean Manufacturing, supported by Regional Lean Department.
  • Ensure the correct relationship with the other services of the organization
  • Work with Purchasing Department to develop and improve supplier relationships.
  • Ensure in accordance with the Plant Functional Managers and local and Regional HR, the definition of the training programs of the employees, in accordance to regulations and standards and guidelines applicable.
  • Promote the development of the Managers and employees, ensuring always the right person at the right moment at the right place.
  • Maintain the relationship with the local institutional bodies and authorities.
  • Ensure cooperation with the Work Council.

Compliance

  • Ensure that all the rules, regulations and standards and guidelines applicable to the business are respected, implementing CAPA and internal guidelines when necessary.
  • Ensure the commitment to Safety Company Guidelines and Safety Local Rules
  • Ensure in accordance to the Local and Regional Compliance that the business is conducted always in accordance to the local and international law, regulations standards and FMC guidelines, especially the Code of Ethics and all the annexed procedures

Profile

Your personality is characterized by a high level of drive, positive mindset and energy. You are an experienced plant leader, and you have excellent people management skills. You have an improvement mindset and sharp eye for details. You are pragmatic, process oriented and open for new ways of working.

  • Technical university degree.
  • High proficiency in German and English (spoken & written).
  • Experience in a Plant leadership position within a Medical Device/Pharma/Healthcare manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record in successfully restructuring, reorganizing, and implementing cost-cutting programs in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experienced in managing site P&L, budgets and forecasting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulations related to pharmaceuticals, medical devices such as GMP and ISO13485.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of implementing continuous improvement/lean tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean.
  • Good understanding of safety systems and the ability to enforce safety rules and policies effectively.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills, including team building and advanced coaching abilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing operations, maintenance, and engineering principles.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize production and maintenance needs.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and listening skills.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in dealing with changing priorities and situations.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and lead decision-making processes in a collaborative environment.
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented
  • Willingness to travel to other plant locations.
